About Community:

Smithville, Texas, is located off State Highway 71 and ten miles southeast of Bastrop in southeastern Bastrop County, and just a short drive from Austin. Smithville’s major industries include, transportation and warehousing, education, health care, and accommodation and food services. It was the site of an annual three-day festival, the Smithville Jamboree.  Smithville ISD is located there.  In addition to serving Smithville, the district also serves, Rosanky, and a small portion of the district extends into Fayette County

  1. An effective communicator with refined interpersonal skills who is visible, willing to listen and learn, and interacts well with the staff and community.
  2. A leader with a successful record of leading and monitoring the curriculum necessary for all students and teachers to excel academically and personally.
  3. Able to work in partnership with the Board of Trustees and build a climate of candor, mutual trust, and cooperation.
  4. An experienced financial manager, with bond and construction expeerinece preferred; who understands Texas school finance, how to maximize the district’s resources and tap alternative sources of funding.
  5. Is a progressive visionary that has had proven success in implementing instructional technology and innovative strategies in today’s classroom.
  6. An effective problem solver who actively solicits input from those involved reviews the facts, makes the tough decisions and supports those decisions with resources and personal commitment.
